Cari DeLoa is a Sr. Principal Data Engineer on the Diversity & Inclusion team at Genentech. She leverages research, data, and analytics to identify insights and develop recommendations that drive the business to action around D&I.
Cari’s skills and capabilities were honed over the years through analytical roles in academia, biotech, and most recently as the Head of Data Engineering on the Genentech People Analytics team. Her career at Genentech initially began in Biometrics where she designed and built databases for early development clinical trials in oncology, neurology, and immunology. Prior to joining Genentech, she worked as a Research Analyst at the UCSF School of Medicine where she ran experiments and managed large-scale data warehouses for clinical and genetics research.
Cari is a graduate of UC Berkeley with a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology and an emphasis in Neurobiology. When she isn’t wrangling complex datasets, she is doing yoga, contributing to science and technology programs at local schools, and embarking on adventures with her husband and two children in San Francisco.
